“Is growing vegetables cool again?”
If your father’s job requires your family to move often, you might develop a knack for being approachable and making new friends easily. You might also learn to like travel, develop a curiosity about life in general and enjoy reading, cooking and gardening.
Such is the case with Janet Carson.
Janet’s blog, In the Garden boasts over 3,000 followers and is updated with new posts almost daily. There is a Janet B. Carson Scholarship at the University of Arkansas for a high school senior who plans to major in a horticulture-related field. And Janet manages a Master Gardener program with over 3400 volunteers in 67 Arkansas counties and which coordinates over 20 county and regional horticulture events each year.
Janet’s other work includes weekly gardening columns in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and monthly columns in Arkansas Gardener and Arkansas Living magazine. She has been featured in Fine Gardening and Organic Gardening magazine. A weekly television spot airs on KATV TV Saturday morning taped at Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs.
We’re fortunate to have snagged Janet before her impending retirement, where she plans to “travel, entertain and cook even more!”
You’ll have an opportunity to hear Janet explain, “Is growing vegetables cool again?” at the 2018 Missouri Master Gardener State Conference. And if you have any questions, don’t forget; you can Ask Janet.
